Abstract
The objective of this Act is to promote forest production, afforestation and forest protection. The Act applies to all forest and forest land.
The 54 sections are divided into 11 Chapters: Introductory provisions (sects. 1-3); The Forest Supervisory Authority (4-14); Conditions for Harvesting, Silviculture etc. (15-20); Restrictions on Timber Logging, Forest Cultivation, Selected Measures, etc. (21-28); Forest Management Plan (29-31); Protection Forests (32-33); Special Rules for Certain Kinds of Forests (34-40); The Forest Trust Fund (41-49); Exceptional Provisions (50-51); Penal Provisions and Seizure (52); Miscellaneous Provisions (53-58).
The Forest Authority shall consist of municipal authorities, the County Agricultural Boards, and the Ministry (sect. 4). Forest Management Plans may be ordered by County Agricultural Boards under section 30. The Minister may in relation to a county or part of a county, decide that forest properties within a certain size shall be exempted form this Act or selected provisions (sect. 40).
