Abstract
This Decree establishes criteria for facilities that slaughter and process aquaculture animals, i.e. animals that are raised in a fishing breeding farm. The aim of the Decree is to safeguard health and well-being of aquaculture animals. The Decree shall apply to aquaculture and mariculture but it shall not apply to the slaughtering and processing of marine mammals. It shall be prohibited to establish or operate a fish processing facility without a permit to do so from the Food Safety Authority. The Decree lays down hygienic requirements and requires facilities to comply with certain conditions that safeguard the well-being of animals.
