Abstract
This Decree grants vessels of the Russian Federation the right to fish in 2009 a specified total allowable catch north of the 62nd parallel between the 12 and 200 nautical miles zone calculated from the baseline of Norway in the fisheries zone of Jan Mayen between 4 and 200 nautical miles. It establishes catch quotas for: Norwegian arctic cod, Norwegian arctic haddock, herring, coalfish, red fishes as bycatch, and other fish species as bycatch. Bycatch of red fishes and Greenland halibut is regulated separately. Fishing with cod trawl (135 mm) in a specified area of the EEZ is prohibited as wells as fishing for herring with small mesh (120 mm). In the fisheries zone of Jan Mayen another quota of blue whiting may be fished. Other provisions concern calculation of catch quotas, offences and penalties.
