Abstract
This Decree regulates the fishing for Norwegian arctic cod as main catch and bycatch for the year 2011 in the fisheries protection zone of Svalbard. It provides that Norwegian and Russian commercial fishing vessels may fish quotas of arctic cod within quotas assigned to each country. Vessels from the European Union and Faeroe Islands may fish with an established quota of 25.973 and 1.427 tons respectively. Bycatch shall be limited to ten percent of catch of other species. Offences shall be punished in accordance with section 8 and 9 of Act No. 91 of 1976 relating to the Economic Zone of Norway and sections 60, 61 and 64 of the Marine Living Resources Act. Assistance in fishing shall be considered as fishing.
