Abstract
This Decree applies to fishing north of the 35th parallel and west of a line defined in section 1 in the area known as the NAFO area (sec 1). Section 1 gives also a definition of regulatory areas. Vessels which wish to participate in fishing shall register with the Director of Fisheries. The registration is valid for a specific fish species and a specified calendar year (sect. 2). Section 3 requires vessels to report to the Director of Fisheries in accordance with detailed rules. The Director may also prohibit fishing in certain areas if catch quotas are full. Section 6 prescribes the mesh size of trawl nets for fishing for shrimps (less than 40 mm) and section 7 requires the use of a sorting grate for shrimp fishing. Rules of the NAFO convention shall be observed (sect. 11). Decree No. 129 of 1997 adds a requirement to already existing reporting requirements in various stages of fishing (sect. 3). Vessels shall now in all stages also report on the species which constitutes the principal catch. (13 sections)
