Abstract
The text consists of 40 sections, divided into 8 Chapters: Scope, application sphere and definitions (I); General provisions regarding the transportation of animals (II); Special provisions regarding the transporter, etc. (III); Requirements regarding the transport vehicles (IV); Requirements regarding the timing of transport (V); Special provisions regarding the transportation of single species (VI); Requirements regarding the stops during transportation (VII); Final provisions (VIII). The Decree applies to all living animals except aquatic organisms. It implements in Norway various EC Council Directives pursuant to the EAA Agreement. Section 9 contains rules regarding feeding of animals during transport. Section 10 prohibits the transportation of animals in certain conditions, whereas section 11 prohibits transportation using certain transportation methods. Transporters shall be registered with the State Animal Protection Agency or the county veterinarian (sect. 12). Other sections of Chapter II concern gathering and communication, responsibility for supervision, of information, and training.
