Abstract
The Act consist of 25 sections, divided into 6 Chapters: Sphere of application of the Act (I); Measures (II); Compensation and estimation (III); Rules regarding fees and charges (IV); Penal provisions and enforcement (V); Final provisions (VI).
This Act shall apply to those animal diseases as the King shall establish by Decree. "Domestic animals" in this Act includes tame reindeer. The Act applies both to domestic and wild animals. The owner or person responsible for an animal, including wildlife, shall notify immediately the local veterinarian or police officer if symptoms of diseases to which the present Act applies are present. The diseased animal may be isolated and delivered to a veterinarian (sect. 2). The Department of Agriculture is vested with all necessary powers to regulate the prevention, limitation and eradication of animal disease (sect. 3). Section 7 deals with the marking of animals, section 9 with vaccination. The Department of Agriculture may provide further for internal (in-house) control for purposes of this Act (sect. 11). Chapter III provides for compensation for animals killed or slaughtered under the present Act.
