Abstract
The Regulation applies to fishing in 2012 by Member States of the European Union (EU) vessels within the economic zone and the fishery zone around Jan Mayen. Allowed quotas north of 62 N shall correspond to cod (16 309 tons), Norheast Arctic haddock (1 350 tons), saithe (2 550 tons), Sebastes mentella and Sebastes marinus as bycatch (1 500 tons), other species as bycatch (350 tons), and Greenland halibut as bycatch (50 tons). Mackerel in ICES zone IIa (13 898 tons) shall also have an applicable quota to the ICES area IVa. Meshed trawl fishing is permitted in specific areas (article 7). Quota south of 62 N is specified in Chapter 3. Bycatch of 5% of herring and other fish, together with 10% bycatch of protected species is permitted.
