Abstract
It is illegal for Norwegian vessels to fish capelin in the North East Atlantic. Exception is made for Norwegian vessels with purse seine permit that can fish a total allowable catch of 49 189 tons of capelin in Greenland fishery zone north of 64.30.N, in the Icelandic economic zone north of 64.30.N and the fishery zone around Jan Mayen. It is authorized to fish 40 869 tons of capelin in the Icelandic economic zone. Vessels that have taken sail shall notify the NSS at entrance into the Icelandic economic zone. Fisheries and Norwegian Herring Sales Association Fisheries may determine the sailing stop into the Icelandic economic zone (art. 3). No quantity of catch may be transferred to other vessels.
