Abstract
The present Regulation lays down rules concerning boar seed. It consists of five chapters: Purpose, scope and definitions (I); Production of boar seed (II); Requirements for import and export of boar seed within the EEA (III); Requirements for import of boar seed from non-EEA countries (IV); an Other provisions (V). The purpose of the Regulation is to prevent the spread of infectious diseases in relation with boar seed used for artificial insemination. It contains rules disciplining the health conditions of animals used in the production of boar seed; the import and export of such seed within the EEA; the import of such seed from countries outside the EEA; and the use of imported boar seed. The Regulation also implements Regulation (EU) No 176/2012.
