Abstract
The Ordinance extends to the whole of West Pakistan, except the special areas. The Ordinance consists of 27 articles concerning, inter alia, (a) the appointment of Fisheries Inspectors by the Government; (b) the lease of the right to catch fish in any water other than private water for a period not exceeding thre years and the issuance of fishing permits in favour of the lessee; (c) prohibited fishing methods; (d) minimum size of the fish species listed in the First Schedule; (e) the establishment of periods during which fishing is permitted; (f) the issuance of fishing licenses. Furthermore, the Ordinance provides for the establishment of sanctuaries. Final provisions concern the enforcement of the Ordinance, as well as offences and legal proceedings (arts. 12-22).
