Abstract
The purpose of this Act is to reduce the amount of waste from electrical and electronic equipment and to ensure appropriate level of collection, reuse and recycling of spent equipment. This Act establishes measures to protect the environment and human health by preventing the adverse impacts of the generation and management of waste from electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) and by reducing overall impacts of resource use and improving the efficiency of such use. These provisions apply to electrical and electronic equipment and to waste equipment. The present Act is composed of the following Sections: (1) General provisions; (2) Placing equipment on the market; (3) Authorized representative; (4) Financial security; (5) Collection and transport of waste equipment; (6) Processing of waste equipment; (7) Recycling and recovery activities other than recycling; (8) Organization of electrical and electronic equipment recovery; (9) External audit; (10) Product fee; (11) Transport of used and waste equipment; (12) Registry and reporting; (13) Obligations of public administration; (14) Administrative fines and penal provisions; (15) Changes in valid provisions; (16) Transitional, adaptative and final provisions.
