Abstract
This Decree-Law approves the National Water Plan. The Plan, consisting of five chapters deals with the planning and policy of a correct and modern management of water resources, in order to improve their rational exploitation and protection. Chapter 1 defines water resources, geographical delimitation of national territories involved in the water plannings and zones under a special regime of protection and the sectors involved with this sector. Chapter 2 establishes the requirements to be met in order to draw up a water management plan, including environment protection. Chapter 3 deals with the challenges of the New Policy of Water, requirements to be met in order to preserve the aquatic ecosystems. Chapter 4 sets forth physical objectives and financial mesures to be applied. Chapter 5 specifies Plan application and evaluation.
