Decree-Law No. 122/2024 creating the Climate Agency.

This Decree-Law creates the Public Agency for Climate, and approves the respective legislation. In addition, it establishes the fourth amendment of Decree-Law No. 56/2012 of 12 March, amended by Decree-Law No. 55/2016 of 26 August, Decree-Law No. 108/2018 of 3 December and Decree-Law No. 101-D/2020 of 7 December. It also amends Decree-Law No. 42-A/2016 of 12 August, amended by Decree-Law No. 84/2019 of 28 June, Decree-Law No. 102-D/2020 of 10 December and Decree-Law No. 114/2021 of 15 December creating the Environmental Fund. Finally, it amends Decree-Law No. 16/2016 of 9 March, amended by Decree-Law No. 84/2019 of 28 June, Decree-Law No. 123/2021 of 30 December, and Decree-Law No. 71/2023 of 22 August creating the Blue Fund. The Climate Agency aims to organize the public sector by changing the organization of the direct administration of the State, based on the aggregation of services that are dispersed across different entities and on the development of existing competence centers integrated into the center of Government. It fulfills this purpose by bringing together services that come from the General Secretariat of the Ministry of the Environment, thus enhancing planning and execution in essential matters such as combating climate change.
