Abstract
This Law provides for the protection and improvement of plants and grass crops.
The Law contains measures for seeking, controlling and protecting the species from all kinds of pests and diseases and for phytosanitary control. It regulates all terms and conditions that are necessary for the correct production, treatment or processing, import, stocking and trading with grass crops, for grass crop products, authorized facilities as well as terms of care and protection of species' health.
The protection of grass crops includes the following: (a) protection of the species, products and facilities from hazardous organisms and substances; (b) prevention from contamination, expansion of damaging organisms and species with phytosanitary measures; (c) detection and determination of hazardous organisms and substances; (d) optimization of production and trade of crops, crop content products and authorized facilities; (e) enviromental care and protection from toxic organisms; (f) measures, conditions and instruments for the sustainable control and care of the integrity and variety of grass crops; (g) measures and steps for crop protection; (h) education and public information.
The Law provides for the establishment of the technical council for the health and improvement control of grass crop species.
The Law further provides for: quarantine measures; notification by the Minister of protected areas; import and export complete conditions and restrictions; phytosanitary certificates; inspection; offences and penalties; etc.

Entry into force notes
This Law enters into force eight days after its publication in the Official Gazette except for articles 52-55 and 60-65 which enter into force on 1 January 2011.
