Abstract

This Basic Forestry Legislation regulates the relationship originating from the use of forestry resources for the purpose of the rational use, reforestation, safeguard and protection of forests. This Law consists of 8 Sections that contain 85 articles. Section 1 (arts. 1-11) lays down the general provisions. Section 2 (arts. 12-24) regards forestry organization. Section 3 (arts. 25-54) deals with the use of forestry resources. Section 4 (arts. 55-65) deals with reforestation and raising the forest productivity, safeguard and protection of forests. Section 5 (arts. 66-73) deals with royalties for the use of forestry resources. Section 6 (arts. 74-78) concerns forest management, state forestry cadastre, registration of forestry resources and forestry monitoring. Section 7 (arts. 79-84) establishes the modalities of dispute settlement in the field of forestry and the liability for the infringement of forestry legislation. Section 8 (art. 85) regards International Agreements.

This Basic Forestry Legislation is in force on the national territory. The Legislative Acts enacted by the subjects of the Russian Federation and by the local administrations must not contradict this Law.
