Regional Decree No. 761-pp validating Regional Strategy on State National Policy for the period until 2025.

Regional Strategy on State National Policy for the period until 2025 is a systematized set of principles, goals, main directions, tasks and mechanisms for implementing state national policy in the Magadan region in the field of interethnic and interfaith relations.
The main issues of state national policy in the region, requiring special attention of executive authorities and local government are the preservation and development of cultures and languages of the peoples of the Russian Federation living on the regional territory, strengthening their spiritual community, as well as ensuring the rights of national minorities.
Currently, the region is inhabited by representatives of more than 10 ethnic groups belonging to the indigenous peoples of the North. In the region live 2.95% - indigenous peoples of the North, included in the List of places of traditional residence and traditional economic activities of indigenous peoples of the North, Siberia and the Far East of the Russian Federation in the Magadan region: Evens - 2635 people, Koryaks - 900 people, Itelmens - 613 people and Kamchadals - 280 people, Yukaghirs - 71 people. Special attention has traditionally been paid to state support for indigenous peoples of the North.
The principles of the state national policy on the regional territory: (a) strengthening the all-Russian civic identity; (b) ensuring equality of human rights and freedoms regardless of race, nationality, language, religion, social groups and associations; (c) protection of the rights, ancestral habitat and traditional way of life of indigenous peoples of the North; and (d) promoting the development of national cultures and languages of the peoples of Russia and other ethnic communities living in the Magadan region.
The practical implementation of national policy in the region involves solving the following main tasks: (a) preserving the native languages of indigenous peoples and ethnic groups of the North living in the territory of the Magadan region; (b) development of traditional spiritual values of the indigenous peoples of the Magadan region, preservation of their cultural heritage, expansion and deepening of knowledge about the history and culture of indigenous peoples of the North, comprehensive popularization and dissemination of this knowledge; (c) ensuring a set of measures to protect the rights and interests of indigenous peoples of the North; (d) creating conditions for the participation of indigenous peoples of the North in resolving these issues; and (e) creating conditions for the development of traditional sectors of the economy, folk crafts and trades, preserving the way of life and languages of the small indigenous peoples of the North.
Expected results: (a) preservation and development of the native languages of indigenous peoples and ethnic groups of the North living in the Magadan region; and (b) creating conditions for the sustainable development of indigenous peoples of the North.
