Regional Law No. 17-RZ “On conservation and management of wild fauna species and natural habitats thereof”.

This Regional Law regulates relations in the sphere of protection and management of wild fauna species and their habitats with a view of ensuring biodiversity, sustainable use of all components of the animal kingdom, creating conditions for sustainable wild fauna, conservation of wild fauna genetic pool and other measure of wild fauna protection as an integral part of the natural environment. Rare and endangered wild fauna species shall be recorded in the Red Book. Shall be prohibited activities that may cause death or destruction of habitats of endangered and protected wild fauna species. Ranching and captive breeding of wild fauna species (except for those inserted in Red Book) shall be authorized exclusively by permits issued by the authorized regional executive body in the field wild fauna management (except permits for captive breeding of wild fauna species in semi-captive conditions and artificial habitats on the territory of protected areas of federal significance). Legal entities and natural persons performing keeping and breeding of wild fauna species, must treat them humanely, comply with sanitary, veterinary and zoohygienical requirements related to keeping thereof.
