Regulation on sphere of competence of the Ministry of Natural Resources validated by the Ministerial Decree No. 726.

The Ministry of Natural Resources is a Federal Executive Body entitled to carry out state policy in the sphere of study, use, reproduction, protection of natural resources and environment, ensuring ecological safety and to co-ordinate the activity of other Federal Executive Bodies in the above-mentioned sphere in cases envisaged by the Legislation currently in force. The Ministry of Natural Resources is: 1) Federal Institution for the management of subsoil and forests. 2) Specially authorized state institution for the management and protection of water resources. 3) Specially authorized state institution in the field of use, protection, conservation of forest resources, environmental protection, state ecological expertise, protection, control and regulation of use of wildlife species and their natural habitat, protection of atmospheric air and, within its sphere of competence of the treatment of waste materials (except for nuclear ones) and carrying out state control over use and protection of land. 4) Federal Executive Body specially authorized to carry out state regulation in the field of protection of the Baikal lake.
