Abstract
These Rules, issued by the Director-General of the Department of Fisheries under section 81 of the Fisheries Ordinance of 2015 requires licensees of commercial fishing vessels with a gross tonnage of thirty gross tons or more to install and employ a fishing vessel monitoring system in accordance with the performance standards for the equipment and the functional requirements of the system laid down in the Schedule to this Announcement. When the vessel tracking system is installed in any fishing vessel, the licensee shall guarantee functionality and carry out communications with the Port in- Port Out (PIPO) Control Centers as prescribed. The Rules also concern the notification prior to port entry/landing, reporting on system failures and interim monitoring measures.
