Abstract
This Land Excavation and Filling Act, B.E. 2543 (2000) regulates land excavation and filling activities to minimize environmental and structural risks, prevent damage to neighboring properties, and ensure safe land development practices.
Excavation or filling projects typically requires permits from local authorities, especially for activities that might affect adjacent properties or public areas. The Act specifies that the height of any land fill near property boundaries should maintain a setback distance equal to or greater than the height of the fill itself. Local officers have the authority to halt excavation or filling if it poses environmental hazards or threatens neighboring land.
The Act makes provisions, inter alia, for: measures to protect natural resources and local communities, such as restricting excavation in areas prone to flooding or soil erosion, offences and penalties.
