Abstract
The present Law establishes legal, economic and social basis for the protection of the consumers of produce and service. This Law regards natural persons – entrepreneurs, enterprises, organizations and institutions, irrespectively of the form of property, departmental or sectorial subordination and covers all types of activity, concerns citizens of Turkmenistan, foreign citizens and stateless persons operating on the territory of Turkmenistan. Information regarding foodstuffs must contain their composition (including food additives), contents of substances injurious to human health by comparison with the requirements of standards and counter-indications in case of certain diseases. The document consists of V Sections that contain 36 articles. SecI (arts. 1-3) lays down general provisions. Sec.II (Arts.4-7) establishes liability of the manufacturer (trader, executor). Sec.III (Arts.8-18) regards protection of consumers’ rights in the process of selling goods. Sec.IV (Arts.19-31) regards protection of consumers’ rights in the process of carrying out work and service. Sec.V (Arts.32-36) regards public and social protection of consumers’ rights.
