Notification No. 2021/20 on support for fishing balloonfish.

This Notification lays down the procedures and principles for supporting fishermen to fish alien invasive balloonfish to reduce their current populations and stock participation rates in Turkish territorial waters. This Notification shall apply to fishermen who are registered to the Fisheries Information System (SUBIS), holding a valid license for their fishing vessels, engaged in fishing activities and fish invasive balloon fish species (Lagocephalus Sceleratus, Lagocephalus Spadiceus, Lagocephalus Suezensis, Lagocephalus Guentheri, Torquigener Flavimaculosus, Tylerius Spinosissimus, Lagocephalus Lagocephalus, Sphoeroides Pachygaster) in the provinces bordering the Mediterranean and Aegean Seas, between the period of 3 May 2021 and 31 December 2023. The objectives of this Notification are to reduce the damage to the country's fisheries and economy, conserve aquatic biodiversity and stocks, and ensure sustainable and rational use of resources.
