Notification No. 2024/8 on support for fishing balloonfish.

This Notification sets out the procedures and principles of the support to be given to fishers in order to reduce the current populations and stock participation rates of invasive puffer fish (Lagocephalus sceleratus, Lagocephalus spadiceus, Lagocephalus suezensis, Lagocephalus guentheri, Tylerius spinosissimus, Lagocephalus lagocephalus, Sphoeroides pachygaster, Torquigener flavimaculosus) spreading in Turkish territorial waters. The purposes of this Notification are to reduce the damage to the country's fisheries and economy, protect aquatic biodiversity and natural fish stocks, ensure the sustainable and rational use of resources and to add puffer fish to the economy. This Notification shall apply to fishers who are registered to the Fisheries Information System (SUBIS), holding a valid license for their fishing vessels, engaged in fishing activities and fish invasive balloon fish species in the provinces bordering the Mediterranean and Aegean Seas, between the period of 1 January 2024 and 31 December 2026.
