It lays down rules on the improvement of the processes carried out by shipyards, boat manufacturing and slipways in an environmental manner, the dissemination of cleaner production techniques, the monitoring of the effects of processes on the marine environment, the establishment of ballast sediment collection facilities, and reporting obligations.
