Abstract
This Notification defines the product features of types of spices and the rules and procedures of production, preparation, processing, storage, transportation and placing in the market. This Notification applies to ground, crumbled and whole spices and spice blends. The products which are not defined in this Notification may be used as spices after conducting a detailed risk assessment and evaluated by the Ministry. Furthermore, this Notification lays down provisions on additives, contaminants, pesticide residues, hygiene, packaging, labelling, sampling and analysis methods. Administrative sanctions shall be imposed for the breach of the provisions of this Notification, in accordance with the Law No. 5996 on veterinary services, plant health, food and feed.
