Abstract
This Act redefines the roles and responsibilities for waste management in Tuvalu and make provision for all matters connected with the regulation and management of wastes and the provision of waste related services in Tuvalu. The Act contains 49 Articles divided into 7 Sections with regard to responsibilities for waste management, planning, operations and waste generation and disposal; designation of wastes, waste levies, registration and licensing of private waste operators; designation of waste service areas, powers of waste management operators, standards and operating procedures and reporting by the operators. Section 6 of the Act describes implementing certain conventions with regard to hazardous wastes and the precautionary principles. Last part of the Act outlines the offences relating to wastes. The text has one schedule.
