Law No.486-IV of 2003 on fish, aquatic biodiversity and fish products.

The present Law establishes the basic legal and organizational principles for ensuring quality and safety of fish, aquatic biodiversity and fish products for human life and health and prevention of the negative impact in the process of fisheries, processing, packaging and transportation outside the customs frontier of the Ukraine. The document consists of 14 Articles Art. 1 introduces the main concepts. Article 2 regards requirements for fish-farming, aquaculture and mariculture. Article 3 regards special use of stock, biodiversity and requirements regarding catch. Article 4 regards processing of catch. Article 5 regards certification of processing industry. Article 6 establishes requirements for processing of catch. Article 7 regards ensuring on the part of the manufacturer of control over quality and safety of catch and fish products. Article 8 regards confirmation of the appropriate quality and safety of catch and fish products. Article 9 regards transfer of catch and fish products of the Ukrainian origin outside customs frontier of the Ukraine. Article 10 regards transfer of catch and fish products of foreign origin outside customs frontier of the Ukraine. Article 11 regards state control over quality and safety of catch and fish products. Article 12 establishes liability for the infringement of the legislation in the sphere of quality and safety of foodstuffs. Article 13 regards international cooperation of Ukraine in the sphere of ensuring quality and safety of catch and fish products. Article 14 lays down final provisions.
