Presidential Decree No. 23/18 approving the Statute of Ministry of Fisheries and the Sea (MINPESMAR).

This Presidential Decree approves the Statute of Ministry of Fisheries and the Sea (MINPESMAR). This Statute, consisting of 32 articles divided into four Chapters and three Annexes, establishes composition, duties and responsibilities of the above mentioned Ministry of Fisheries, entitled to perform the below mentioned activities: elaborate implement, supervise and control the management and planning of aquatic resources, innovation and technological development in the marine area under Angolan jurisdiction. In addition, it aims to propose the strategy and implement the policies for the development of fisheries (including artisanal fisheries), aquaculture and salt production, in particular as regards the exploitation and exploitation of fisheries resources, aquaculture production, production of salt and other aquatic resources; design and implement National Strategies for the Sea, Nature Conservation and Marine Biodiversity, and Integrated Coastal Zone Management; promote the sustainable development of the Sector and ensure the implementation of measures for the preservation and sustainable management of aquatic ecosystems and resources; to ensure the harmonious integration of the Fisheries, Aquaculture and Salt Planning into the Country Economic and Social Development Plan; to ensure scientific research and technological development in fisheries, aquaculture and the sea in collaboration with the competent organs of the State; etc.
