Abstract
This Act, consisting of 205 sections divided into 15 Parts, applies to the exploration, exploitation and conveying of petroleum and natural gas in the State of Queensland.
The Act specifies the rights and powers of the Crown that include reservations in grants. It defines the area to be held under an authority to prospect and spells out provisions relating to leases. Furthermore, it provides for the specific mandatory conditions for authorities to prospect and for leases. The Act further provides for: appeals; evidence and legal proceedings; penalties and regulation making powers of the Governor in Council; etc. The Act is completed by one Schedule on Decisions subject to appeal.

An Act to make better provision for encouraging and regulating the mining for petroleum and natural gas in the State and the conveying of petroleum and natural gas, wherever recovered.
