Abstract
The present Law establishes legal basis for registration, use and protection of selection achievements. The used plant varieties, animal breeds, their hybrids,genotypes, crossings, clones, seeds, gametes, embryos or other plant material and high-producing animals selected for propagation are the objects of selection achievements.An application for selection achievement patent shall meet the following conditions: a) novelty; b) distinctness; c) uniformity; d) stability. The Law consists of 8 Sections composed of 34 articles. Section 1 (arts. 1-5) lays down general provisions. Section 2 (arts. 6-13) establishes general rules for expertise, testing and validation of the results of selection achievements. Section 3 (arts. 14-20) regards authorship and patent law. Section 4 (arts. 21-22) regards protection of selection achievements. Section 5 (arts. 23-27) regards utilization of selection achievements. Section 6 (arts. 28-29) regards state patronage of selection activity. Section 7 (arts. 30-34) regards international cooperation.
