Law on Organic Agriculture.

The objectives of this Law are to: (I) ensure food safety through the production of quality agricultural and food products, (II) restore, protect, maintain and extend soil fertility and its quality, (III) protect the environment, (IV) ensure sustainable use of natural resources, (V) meet the demand for organic agriculture and food products in the market and increase the competitiveness, (VI) protect the consumers' rights, and (VII) create alternative livelihood opportunities for sustainable economic development of rural areas.
This Law lays down provisions on transition from traditional agriculture to organic farming and marketing, sales, branding, storage, transport, import and export of organic agricultural and food products. This Law sets out requirements for organic agriculture in Article 6, organic plant cultivation in Article 7 and for ecologically friendly animal husbandry in Article 8, such as not using genetically modified plants or agricultural plant materials created by modern biotechnological and genetic engineering methods; and using veterinary drugs which are allowed for application in the prevention of diseases. The use of chemicals for agricultural purposes as well as for cleaning warehouses and processing facilities is prohibited.
