Abstract
This Regulation determines several measures aimed to limit and prevent the pollution of waters caused by nitrates deriving from agricultural sources (surface and groundwater that is contaminated or threatened with nitrate contaminant pollution), and further sets the rules, rights and obligations of the competent authorities in this regard.
This Regulation also stipulates the provisions related to the designation of vulnerable zones, standards for necessary percolation or drainage; voluntary application by farmers for good agricultural practice rules aimed to protect waters against nitrate pollution from agricultural sources; and training and informing of farmers related issues.
Entry into force notes
This Regulation enters into force on 11 March 2008.
