Law No. 14.134 providing for activities related to the transport of natural gas, referred to in art. 177 of the Federal Constitution, and on the activities of flow, treatment, processing, underground storage, conditioning, liquefaction, regasification and sale of natural gas.

This Law, consisting of 49 articles divided into nine Chapters, provides for activities related to the transport of natural gas. This Law establishes rules for transporting natural gas through pipelines and for importing and exporting natural gas, as dealt with in items III and IV of art. 177 of the Federal Constitution, as well as for the exploration of the activities of flow, treatment, processing, underground storage, conditioning, liquefaction, regasification and sale of natural gas. These economic activities will be regulated and supervised by the National Agency for Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP). The agents of the natural gas industry will be responsible for: I - explore activities related to the natural gas industry in the applicable technical and environmental standards and in the respective authorizations, respecting the specific legislation on local piped gas services referred to in art. 25 of the Federal Constitution; II - allow the competent supervisory body free access, at any time, to the exploration works, equipment and facilities. The owner of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) must make available information on the characteristics of its facilities, the services provided, the available capacities, etc.
