Abstract
The present Act lays down provisions relating to national parks of Canada. The Act contains at the outset a definition clause referring to various terms therein employed, such as “community plan”, “ecological integrity”, “enforcement officer”, “park”, “park community”, “park reserve”, “public land”. The most important privision of this Act is contained in section 4 establishing that the national parks of Canada are dedicated to the people of Canada for their benefit, education and enjoyment, subject to this Act and the regulations, and the parks shall be maintained and made use of so as to leave them unimpaired for the enjoyment of future generations. The text consists of 42 sections dealing with the following aspects: National Parks of Canada, adminstration, park lands, regulations, enforcement, offences and punishment; mitigation of environmental damages, park communities; provisions for particular parks; park reserves; national historic sites of Canada. Five Schedules are enclosed.
