Abstract
Obwalden’s cantonal forestry law is an implementation of Switzerland’s federal forestry ordinance and federal forestry law. It contains sections on purpose of the law and explains the functions of various councils and departments involved (cantonal council, government council, construction and spatial development department and office for forest and landscape). Further covered are the subjects on protection of the forest area (for instance through deforestation), as well as protection of the forest area from natural catastrophes. The law includes further maintenance and use of the forest, forest financing, organizational procedures as well as prosecution and restoration.
