Abstract
This Law provides for amending the Animal Health Law no. 109 (I) of 2001, in order to implement the following European Regulations and harmonise Cyprus Legislation with European Law: 1) Regulation (EU) 2016/429 of the European Parliament and of the Council on transmissible animal diseases and amending and repealing certain acts in the area of animal health; 2) Regulation (EU) 2017/625 of the European Parliament and of the Council on official controls and other official activities performed to ensure the application of food and feed law, rules on animal health and welfare, plant health and plant protection products; 3) Commission Delegated Regulation (EU) 2019/2035 supplementing Regulation (EU) 2016/429 of the European Parliament and of the Council as regards rules for establishments keeping terrestrial animals and hatcheries, and the traceability of certain kept terrestrial animals and hatching eggs; 4) Commission Delegated Regulation (EU) 2020/687 supplementing Regulation (EU) 2016/429 of the European Parliament and the Council, as regards rules for the prevention and control of certain listed diseases; 5) Commission Delegated Regulation (EU) 2020/689 supplementing Regulation (EU) 2016/429 of the European Parliament and of the Council as regards rules for surveillance, eradication programmes, and disease-free status for certain listed and emerging diseases; 6) Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2021/520 laying down rules for the implementation of Regulation (EU) 2016/429 of the European Parliament and of the Council as regards the traceability of certain kept terrestrial animals; 7) Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2021/963 laying down rules for the implementation of Regulations (EU) 2016/429, (EU) 2016/1012 and (EU) 2019/6 of the European Parliament and of the Council as regards the identification and registration of equidae and the establishment of model identification documents for such animals.
The amendments concerns the following topics: animal feed; transmissible animal diseases; identification and registration of bovine animals; eradication programs and disease-free status for certain listed and emerging diseases.
