Abstract
This Law, in its consolidated version, provides for aquaculture organisation and related matters. The Law defines the following relevant terms: license; fish farm; Director of the Department of Fisheries and Marine Research of the Ministry of Agriculture, Natural Resources and Environment; Aquaculture Advisory Committee; means of transport; aquaculture; pollution; aquatic species. The Law provides for: the establishment of the aquaculture advisory committee; the issuance of licenses for fish farm; Director's intention to grant licenses; conditions for granting permits and restrictions for renewal, including environmental pollution; imposition of terms and conditions, including: keeping records, control of quality of water, aquatic species and their quantity introduced into the fish farm, composition, quality and quantity of feed used in the fish farm, use and control of any medicinal preparation or medicine, disposal of dead fish or any waste material; fish farm relocation; powers of Director, including: entry and inspect premises, confiscate any aquaculture products, seize any means of transport; offences and penalties; right to fish in compliance with the Fisheries Act; animal disease and use of drugs; license to use marine space and special provision for the use of marine space within the coastal zone for aquaculture purposes; issuance of Regulations and matters related to, including: prohibition of fishing near a fish farm, payment of any costs for environmental monitoring.
