Order No. 234 on labelling of food products.

Type of law

This Order sets regulations with regard to the labelling and advertising of foodstuffs on sale within the European Community (articles 3-4, 10-15 apply only for food marketed in Denmark). criteria applies to all foodstuffs and food products, and must indicate precise ingredients contained in foodstuffs, beverages, fruit and vegetables, etc. for human consumption. Provisions in this document may be waived if the food is intended for sale within the EU and is labelled in adherence to regulations in force in the related country.
This Order consists of 11 Chapters: Scope (1); Definitions (2); Labelling language (3); Additional provisions for the labeling of prepackaged food (4); Labeling of food treated with ionizing radiation (5); Marking of non-prepacked food, food sold at the request of the consumer and food packed for direct sale (6); Lot number (7); Labelling of wholesale packages of frozen food (8); Labelling of extraction agents (9); Labelling of fish products and aquaculture products (10); Penalties and entry into force (11).

Products and printed packaging meeting requirements of art. 10 (sect. 1, No. 11) art. 46, 46a of Order No. 1308 of 14 December 2005 labeled before 1 February 2012 may be sold until stocks are exhausted. Products and printed packaging produced and labeled by 31 December 2014 and in accordance with art. 24 of Order No. 1308, may be sold until stocks are exhausted.
