Abstract
This Order applies to the trade of food in contact with materials containing hazardous sources that may harm consumers' health. Commercial manufacturing of such materials shall need to be inspected for compliance with EU directives. The Order ensures that authorized substances among the packaging material (ceramic, plastic, glass etc.) must adhere to EU directives - in order to avoid poisoning from hazardous substances such as surface treatments with
This Order consists of 5 Chapters and 11 Appendices: Area (1); Definitions (2); Marketing, use and withdrawal (3); Special manufacturing, use and test conditions for certain food contact materials and objects (4); Special documentation and declaration requirements (5); Migration Test (6); Penal provisions and entry into force (5).
Appendix 1 - List of additives that act solely as surface biocides and intended to remain in the finished article (article 11).
Appendix 2 - Criteria used in determining vinyl chloride in food contact materials and in determining vinyl chloride released by food contact materials.
Appendix 3 - List of substances which may be used in the manufacturing of regenerated cellulose.
Appendix 4 - Levels for lead and cadmium from ceramic and enamelled objects and glassware.
