Abstract
Commission Directive 2002/72/EC sets out rules for plastic materials and articles which are intended to come into contact with foodstuffs. It establishes, inter alia, a list of monomers and other starting substances, which may be used for the manufacture of plastic materials and articles. The present Directive, on the basis of new information which has been acquired, lays down particular amendments to Directive 2002/72/EC in order to include certain monomers provisionally admitted at national level as well as new monomers in the Community list of permitted substances. New articles 4a and 4b, concerning the inclusion of new additives in the above-mentioned list, are added.
