Abstract
This Directive harmonizes rules on the prevention of specific zoonoses (zoonosis means any disease or infection which is likely to be naturally transmitted from animals to man). Member States are required to collect information on the incidence of specified zoonoses in animals and man and report each year trends and sources of infection to the Commission. There are also set minimum standards for the control of salmonella in poultry breeding flocks and compound feedstuffs intended for poultry. This Directive introduces also specific control measures for other zoonoses.
