Abstract
The aim pursued by this Directive is to improve the implementation of Community legislation in force relating to maritime safety and the prevention of pollution from ships. The objective shall be attained, on the one hand, by making reference to the Committee on Safe Seas and the Prevention of Pollution from Ships which has been established under Regulation (EC) No. 2099/2002. On the other hand, this Directive lays down amendments to certain Directives regarding the prevention of pollution at sea.
