Abstract
This Regulation lays down the rules for the application by the European Union of the conservation, management, exploitation, monitoring, marketing and enforcement measures for fishery and aquaculture products established in the framework of the Agreement for the establishment of the General Fisheries Commission for the Mediterranean (GFCM Agreement). These rules apply to all commercial fishing and aquaculture activities conducted by European Union fishing vessels and nationals of Member States in the GFCM Agreement area, which covers the Mediterranean and the Black Sea, as well as connecting waters. Provisions on fishing gear, mesh size, closed seasons and required fishing authorizations are set out. Article 28 lays down certain amendments to Regulation (EC) No. 1967/2006 concerning management measures for the sustainable exploitation of fishery resources in the Mediterranean Sea.
