Abstract
This Act contains rules implementing the European Union's common fisheries policy. It applies to Finland's territory and economic zone. The Act contains 49 sections divided into six chapters: 1) General provisions; 2) The management of the use of fishery resources; 3) Distribution of Finland's fishing quotas to commercial fishermen; 4) Market organization; 5) Registraion of fishing vessels used in inland waters; 6) Special provisions.
The Act lays down detailed rules on matters such as using Finland's regional fishing quotas; management requirements for Finland's national fishing quotas; the exchange of Finland's fishing quotas with other Member States of the European Union; the issuance of fishing permits; the recognition producer organizations and industry associations; IUU fishing; etc. The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry shall be responsible for the implementation of the European Union's common fisheries policy.
