Abstract
This Decree of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, made under section 12 of the Act concerning animal diseases provides for the prevention, control and eradication of certain transmissible spongiform encephalopathies. It implements in Finland provisions of Regulation (EC) No. 999/2001 laying down rules for the prevention, control and eradication of certain transmissible spongiform encephalopathies. The Decree, among other things, defines measures in case of suspicion of BSE in animals and measures in case such suspicion has been confirmed (e.g. notification, epidemiological investigation and list of animals that may have been exposed to BSE infection, disposal of diseased animals) and provides for monitoring and control for the prevention of BSE.
