Abstract
This Proclamation provides for the establishment of the Water Authority of Fiji as a corporate body, defines its functions and powers and provides with respect to the administration and internal organization of the Authority. The Authority is established so as to ensure effective management and administration of the water and the sewerage systems of Fiji. The Authority shall be governed by a Board and managed by a Chief Executive Officer. The Authority shall have certain rights to use or access land. Other provisions of this Proclamation concern water supply. The Minister responsible for Health may: (a) approve water quality standards, including standards for treatment of water and assets used for such treatment; and (b) direct the Authority or, in certain circumstances, the owner or occupier of premises supplied with water, to meet the standards.
