Maximum permissible standards shall be intended a level established for the purpose of preventing or reducing harmful effects on human health and the natural environment, which must be achieved within a given period of time and must not subsequently exceed the level already achieved. Main harmful substances shall be intended sulfur dioxide, nitrogen dioxide, nitrogen oxides, particulate matter, lead, benzene, carbon monoxide, ozone, arsenic, cadmium, mercury, nickel, benzapyrene, manganese dioxide. The maximum permissible norm for the main harmful substances in ambient air, which determines the maximum value of the concentration of a harmful substance in ambient air over an average period of time to protect human health, is set out in Appendix No. 1.
