Abstract
The Resolution adopts technical regulations on ambient air quality standards. It consists of nine articles: Scope of regulation (1); Purpose and objectives of the Resolution (2); Definition of terms (3); Permissible values of concentration of certain pollutants in ambient air and maximum margin of tolerance (4); Assessment margins of certain pollutants in ambient air (5); Target value of certain pollutants in ambient air (6); Alert and notification thresholds (7); Protection of vegetation and other ecosystems (8); and Accessibility of information on ambient air quality (9). The Resolution also adopts Annex No. 1 on Permissible values of concentrations of sulphur dioxide, nitrogen dioxide, particulate matter, lead, benzene and carbon monoxide in ambient air; Annex No. 2 on Upper and lower assessment thresholds for certain pollutants in ambient air for the protection of human health; Annex No. 3 on Target values for certain pollutants in ambient air for the protection of human health; Annex No. 4 on Alert and notification thresholds for sulphur dioxide, nitrogen dioxide and surface ozone levels in ambient air; Annex No. 5 on Critical levels and upper and lower assessment thresholds of sulphur dioxide and oxides of nitrogen for the protection of vegetation and ecosystems; and Annex No. 6 on Target values and long-term objectives for permissible levels of surface ozone concentration in ambient air for the protection of vegetation and ecosystems.
