Abstract
The Code provides for spatial and urban planning in Georgia, its main principles, goals and purposes, hierarchy of spatial and urban plans and their content, and rules for drafting and approving them; rules for using plots of land for construction and main requirements imposed on buildings; issuing building permits, supervision of construction and state compliance and liability for the violations of law. The purposes of the Code, among others, include regulation of use and development of the territory of Georgia by balancing public and private interests; creating decent environment for human life and activity, protection of human health, environment, natural resources and cultural heritage; public participation in the spatial and urban planning; and ensuring urban development that is safe for human health and life.
